WHY I CREATED MONARCH ACADEMY

I didn't start in property.

At 16, I was stacking shelves at Homebase. At 18, I was on the door of a nightclub. At 19, I moved into corporate marketing and at 21, I stepped away from it all to chase a shot at the NFL.

By 23, I had to be honest with myself: I wasn't good enough to make it. So back to corporate life I went, wondering if this was just how my career was going to go.

Then, at 29, a chance conversation with a property developer changed the direction of my life.

I had no connections, no capital behind me and no experience, but I made the decision to start my property journey anyway.

I tell you that because if you're wondering whether you've got the right background to get into property, you don't need one.

I didn't.

After more than a decade in the industry, I've realised the questions people ask don't change much:

I didn't build Monarch Academy because I wanted to become a teacher.

I built it because over more than a decade of delivering 200+ homes across Buy-To-Lets, refurbishments, developments, land and planning gain, I made almost every mistake there is to make and learned what actually separates a good deal from an expensive lesson.

Most property education is built by people who found success in one strategy and then stopped doing deals to teach it full-time. I haven't stopped.

I'm still securing land, building out my own portfolio and delivering developments with a project pipeline north of £50m. That means everything taught inside the Academy comes from decisions being made this month, not lessons that stopped updating five years ago.
